Betty Frey Wassermann, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, May 29, 2017. A visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Sunday, June 4, 2017 with a vigil service and Rosary to begin at 6:30 PM at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station with burial to follow at Barclay Cemetery (Pieper Cemetery) in Barclay, Texas.

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) was born July 1, 1939, the daughter of Louis Alois and Hulda Ann Frey in Rowena, Texas, and moved to Robinson, Texas in 1947 along with her family. Betty attended Robinson schools in the early grades and graduated from University High School in Waco, Texas in 1957. She was a cheerleader and highly involved in all school activities. She met the love of her life and married Lloyd James Wassermann June 7, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waco, Texas. In June of 1958, the newlyweds moved to Mexia, Texas, where she began her role as a devoted coach’s wife, and served as the Secretary to the Superintendent of the Mexia State School. From the years of 1958 to 1983, the family resided in Mexia, Waco, Hillsboro, Brenham, and Nederland, Texas. In 1984, the Wassermann family moved to the town of Lloyd’s alma mater, College Station, Texas, and have since remained. Betty served for six years as the Human Resource Director at the Hilton Hotel. She spent her remaining years as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an honorable wife that loved supporting her husband Lloyd, her family, and the athletes. Betty was committed to being a personal cheerleader to her husband in each of his career paths. She was a beautiful and selfless friend to everyone she met.

Betty is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Lloyd Wassermann; her brother James Frey and wife, Ruth Frey of Waco, Texas, and brother Bobby Frey and wife, Judy Frey of Dallas, Texas; her eldest son Mark Wassermann of Hewitt, Texas, and his son David Wassermann of Rockwall, Texas; her daughter Suzanne Wassermann of Fulshear, Texas, and her three children, Erica Lynn and husband Jeffrey Barnett of Fulshear, Texas, son Colby Ogletree and wife Shelly of San Antonio, and youngest daughter Caitlin Ogletree of Weatherford, Oklahoma; her daughter Stacey Mays and husband John Mays of Port Neches, Texas along with their two sons Kyle and Daniel Mays of Port Neches, Texas; her youngest son Randy Wassermann of College Station, Texas, and his two sons Jackson and Smith Wassermann of Plano, Texas; her adopted daughter Teresa Combe of Austin, Texas; her adopted family John and Laurie Corbelli of College Station, Texas, along with their two children Rachel Corbelli of Austin, Texas, and Russell Corbelli of College Station, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
