Albert Posey Jr.

Floyd Albert Posey, Jr.
aka Buddy Posey

Albert "Al" Posey, 88, of Bryan, passed away at home Sunday, July 30, 2017.  Visitation will be Sunday, August 6 from 4-6 p.m. at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan.  Funeral services are set for Monday, August 7 at 10 a.m. at Hillier Funeral Home followed by graveside services at 1 p.m., complete with military honors at College Station Cemetery.

Al was born July 2, 1929 to Clara (Taylor) and Floyd Albert Posey, Sr. of Sparkman, Arkansas.  He graduated from Harmony Grove High School.  Al then proudly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in the communications field.  His favorite assignment was to Fairbanks, Alaska where he monitored communications from Russia.  When he was honorably discharged, Al returned to Arkansas and met Billie Faye Tatom.  They married New Year’s Eve 1954.  They were blessed with two sons, Steve and Mike.  Al's jobs at various printing centers took them from Arkansas to Louisiana and then he accepted a position with the Printing Center at Texas A&M University.  He enjoyed his career with various printing and publication departments around campus until his retirement in 1992.

The years following his retirement were spent gardening and woodworking. He could supply family, friends, and then some with an abundant amount of fresh vegetables for his enjoyment.  Al could build anything out of wood using his imagination instead of patterns.  He started small with birds and toys to a regulation baseball bat, "Big Al".  He built his own woodworking shop and started producing furniture like tables, Adirondack chairs and beautiful bowls.  Vacations usually included looking for natural woods and exotics. Once Billie retired, they traveled around the U.S.  One of the most notable trips was to Fairbanks to show Billie where he spent his service years.  He was so happy to see the barracks where he lived were still standing.

The greatest joy of Al's life was his family, especially his grandchildren.  Al took his role as Paw-Paw seriously.  Each child was doted on and made to feel special.  He loved to entertain with stories, songs, games and just playing outside.  The special memories will be cherished by all.  Al knew he had the greatest grandchildren and would tell anyone that listened.

Al is survived by his loving wife, Billie Faye; sons Steven H. Posey and wife, Suzanne of Universal City, TX and Michael W. Posey and wife Renee of Lubbock, TX; five grandchildren, Grayson-Michael, Jacob, Hannah, Katy and James; brother, Robert (Bob) and wife, Elizabeth Posey; sister, Mary Walker; sister-in-law, Shirley Posey; brother-in-law, Charles Tatom and wife, Lou; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Clara Posey and siblings Anis Smith, Glenna Posey and Max Posey.

The family would like to thank Traditions Hospice for the care and support you have shown to Al, Billie and the family.  You were a Godsend.
