Jane Anne Sandlin

November 9, 1933 — March 19, 2019

Jane Anne Sandlin

Jane A. Sandlin passed away March 19, 2019, at the age of 85.
Jane was born November 9, 1933 in Oklahoma to Pete and Lael McCullough, who were both realtors. She had a pretty happy childhood growing up with her horses and dogs, and was Miss Baby Ponca City, Oklahoma as a child. After graduating from high school, she went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, where she received her bachelor’s degree in journalism.
While she was at OU, Jane met her husband LTC Mike Sandlin, making her a military wife. The two were blessed with four children: Bill, Roxanne, Jack, and Michelle.  Because her husband was deployed oversees twice, to Korea and Vietnam, Jane had to take care of all four young children by herself. She loved them all the same, and did a good job raising them, even if she was hard-headed about the rules of her house, “my house, my rules”. She was very happy when her husband returned from the Vietnam alive. After he passed away, Jane sold furniture at Star Furniture, as well as a few other places.
A very kind and generous woman, Jane loved animals, especially horses and dogs.  She had a passion for antique furniture and had quite a bit of it. She also loved Cracker Jacks. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and fondly remembered taking a couple of trips to the old farm, her uncle’s place, in Fairland, Oklahoma.
Jane leaves behind her children Bill Sandlin, Roxanne Sandlin, and Jack Sandlin. She was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle Sandlin. To honor her life, her family has planned a memorial service at 6 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan.
