Dorothy Fickey, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on January 17, 1935, in Riverside, TX, to Claude and Letha Mahle. Dorothy was a beacon of kindness, strength, and unwavering love throughout her life.
Dorothy's life was a tapestry of dedication and warmth. She attended Stephen F. Austin in Bryan, Texas. She was married to Louis Fickey on July 10, 1954, and was happily married for 70 years, sharing a partnership filled with love and mutual respect. Together, they raised 3 children, Bobby Fickey, Mark Fickey, and Jay Matthew Fickey, instilling in them the values of hard work, compassion, and integrity. Dorothy's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of everyone who knew her.
Louis and her had America Pawn Shop and operated it for 27 years. Over the years during their time in Bryan, they raised Cattle, Sheep, and over 4,000 Parakeets all while raising and loving their 3 sons. Louis and her loved traveling with friends and enjoying the sites.
Dorothy is remembered as a proud and devoted Catholic, a loving wife, a caring mother, and cherished by her grandkids and great grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Louis Fickey; sons Mark and Jay Matthew Fickey; and her parents Claude and Letha Mahle.
She is survived by her son Bobby Fickey; her grandchildren Adam Fickey, wife Jessica Fickey, Erin Fickey-White, husband Jake White and Sarah Fickey, fiancé Justin O'Keefe; great grandchildren Olivia, Ava, Jude, Jesse, Hadlee, Addison, Leah, Ellie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
