Bessie Lavon Walker

Bessie Lavon Walker, 73, of Bryan, left to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 9, 2020.

Bessie was born in Vernon, Texas, on March 5, 1947, to William Burl Jones and Agnes Mae (Gipson) Jones. Bessie and her siblings, Ray, Maurine, Pat, Timmie, Johnny, Joe, Archie, Glenna, and Linda, grew up on their parents' farm, helping work the land. Bessie enjoyed riding the tractor with her daddy, feeding cows, and riding horses, especially barrel racing. Bessie went to school in Cotton Center, Texas, and received her GED later in life.

Bessie married David Edward Walker in 1964, in Hale Center, Texas. Together they introduced their son into their world, David Edward Walker Jr. Bessie loved her son dearly. He was her everything, and she always put him first. They were fishing buddies, just as they were buddies in every aspect of life.

Bessie was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She had a strong faith, and always looked to God throughout her life. Her memories with her church family were always so important to her.

In her later years, Bessie enjoyed her career as a cataloger at Texas A&M University until she retired. She enjoyed being with her family, especially family reunions! A trip with her family to Colorado was one of her most memorable trips. They camped out every night, and visited parks and zoos. Bessie enjoyed being outside, she felt it brought her closer to her Lord.

Bessie will be remembered as outgoing, loving, and friendly. She was lovingly protective of her friends and family, and would help them with anything they needed. She was always so outgoing and friendly, she made friends with anyone that had the pleasure of meeting her. Bessie will be missed dearly by all that knew her.

Looking down on her husband David (Butch) walker, her son David Walker Jr, and sweet granddaughter Macy, and her eight siblings. To all of us she will forever be our guardian angel.

Bessie will be reunited in heaven with her Lord and Savior; her parents, William Burl Jones and Agnes Mae (Gipson) Jones.
