Amanda Valenzuela Gittelman

Amanda Valenzuela Gittelman

Managing Partner

I was raised in the small town of Los Lunas, New Mexico. When I was 16 years old, I got my first job typing death certificates at the local funeral home after school. I was fascinated by every aspect of funeral service and on my 18th birthday applied for my New Mexico intern licenses to officially begin my career.

While working at the funeral home, I often heard the sound of Taps. I saw the firings of 21 guns and I watched the gratitude of a nation folded and presented to a grieving spouse. I recognized the honorable sacrifice these men and women made for our country. I decided to join the U.S. Navy and served six honorable years on active duty as a Hospital Corpsman.

During that time, however, I never lost my passion for funeral service. I used my education benefits to attend the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. I continued my studies and received a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Science from the University of Florida.

During my college years, I met the man who would become my absolute favorite. You can read JJ's bio below; he is Hillier's preplanning consultant! Together we have two young children, Mackenzie and Enzo.

Funeral service is in my heart and in my soul. There are no words to describe the gratitude I have as Managing Partner. Thank you, Bryan/College Station, for allowing me to serve you.

Amanda is a member of American Legion Post 159 and currently sits on the board of Brazos Valley Cares.

 Jordan Gittelman

Jordan Gittelman

Preplanning Consultant

My name is Jordan but feel free to call me JJ. I was born in Dallas, Texas but grew up with my family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I graduated from Albuquerque High School (Go Bulldogs!) and studied at the University of New Mexico before starting a career in sales. I loved the challenge of sales but after years in the industry, I wanted something more. I wanted more meaning in my career. I was sitting on the back porch of a friend’s house when he suggested I preplan funerals. Fast forward to today and here I am working hard in my community to convey the importance and value of planning ahead.

If you had not yet noticed our same last names, I am married to Amanda. When not at Hillier, I love being with my family. I enjoy wagon rides with Mackenzie and watching Formula One with Enzo. I also enjoy golfing so if you ever want to meet for an early tee time, give me a call.

Director

I chose to work for Hillier because of our reputation of providing the highest level of service to our families and our community, but I choose to stay at Hillier because everyone here is filled with so much love and compassion; Hillier has become my family.

I enjoy my work but always take the time to enjoy the small things like hiking and camping, reading, and binging on zombie shows. I am highly interested in traveling to other countries, and would absolutely love to take a trip to Paris, France!

I am grateful for my time at Hillier, honoring the families and loved ones we serve every day. I love the present, and look forward to what the future holds!

Tom Lloyd

Director

I was raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, but with family all throughout the Lone Star State, a piece of my heart has always been in Texas.

From 2012 to 2014, I was a Spanish-speaking missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas, Nevada. I got into the funeral industry shortly after my return home and never looked back. I love being able to provide care and compassion to people every day. It is what I live for!

My wife, Alison, and our son, Greg, moved to Bryan/College Station in May of 2023 but have learned quickly that this truly is home. We are blessed and excited to be part of and serve such an amazing community.

Aside from my service at the funeral home, I work with the local youth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a blues/rock bassist and singer, a Freemason, and a football fan just to name a few things! I am honored to be a part of the wonderful team we have here at Hillier Funeral Home.

Shannon Elliott

Director

I was born and raised in Indiana.  At the young age of 10, I lost my great-grandmother and I knew right then and there that the funeral profession was going to be in my future.  After graduating from high school, I attended Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration while also competing for the NCAA and playing collegiate tennis all four years. After graduating from Saint Mary’s, I enrolled in the Mortuary Science Program at Vincennes University. In 2017, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Associate’s Degree in Health Science. After graduating, I moved to Austin, Texas where I served the surrounding communities for 5 years as a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.

In May of 2022, I stepped away from my career to welcome in my life my daughter, Brooklyn.  My love for the industry is incredibly strong, but I knew I wanted to be at home with my daughter and soak up as much time as I possibly could.  Although, I was not active in the industry during that time, I never lost my love, passion and all-around dedication for being a Funeral Director.

Aside from my profession, I love to travel, play tennis, play pickleball, watch sports, attend concerts, try new foods, experience all things Texas and spend time with my family and friends.  My goal is to help each family plan a celebration that reflects the details that made their loved one special, guide and support them, and provide services that create lasting memories.  Personally, there is no greater responsibility and honor than helping a family during one of life’s most difficult moments.

I am looking forward to serving and honoring the Bryan/College Station Community with the wonderful staff at Hillier.

I was born and raised in College Station. I graduated from College Station High School in 2018 and received a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M, Class of '23 (whoop!). Shortly after graduation, I was accepted into nursing school and as I continue my pursuit for a career in the medical field.

I have been blessed to work at Hillier and enjoy every minute of it! I am so thankful to be a part of such a dedicated, hardworking, and passionate team. Here at Hillier, we are so much more than just a funeral home, we are a family.

God is the most important part of my life. I am a member at Living Hope Bryan Church and participate at the Baptist Student Ministry on campus. When I’m not working or in class, I enjoy baking, watching movies, and taking my dog, Charlie, to the dog park.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything elyse in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” -Romans 8:38-39

Family Service Attendant

I was born right here in Bryan; however, I grew up in Katy. My academic journey has brought me back to Aggieland! I am a full-time student of Texas A&M University at the RELLIS campus. I am expected to graduate with a Bachelors in Digital and Strategic Communications in December of 2023.

I started with Hillier as a marketing intern in January of 2023. I have since found my place as a Family Service Attendant while maintaining a hand in marketing and social media. Check out our TikTok @hillierfuneralhome to see what we are up to! My time at Hillier has provided me with not only an opportunity to gain experience and growth in my field but also some awesome and supportive coworkers.

My passions in life include all things creative: reading, writing, drawing, and painting. I also love to travel, adventure, and go to concerts anytime I get the chance!

Cindy Peters

Administrative Assistant

Home is where your heart lives! Born in Michigan, I grew up in El Paso, Texas, lived in Tennessee a few years, and in New Mexico for decades. When my daughter, Amanda Gittelman, moved and asked for a grandma nearby, I had no hesitation moving to College Station.

I have had many career opportunities throughout the chapters of my life, but now find myself very happily working at Hillier. Dedication and passion for serving families drives our entire staff to go above and beyond to celebrate and honor life, and it makes me very proud to be part of such an amazing team that is committed to making grieving families’ time with us as memorable and uplifting as possible.

When I am not spending time with my littlest loves, Mackenzie and Enzo Gittelman, I like to read, cross-stitch, tend my plethora of indoor and outdoor plants, and walk my little dog, Sir Windsor.

Shannon Telg

Bookkeeper

I was born and raised in Rockdale, Texas and had the privilege of raising both of my children in the town where I grew up. In 2019, I married Tram, a race horse jockey, and moved to Caldwell where we share our three adult children and two beautiful grandbabies whom we love with all our heart! Horseracing is my life outside of work and I spend most of my days helping my husband in the barn.

I began my career with Hillier in February 2022  and had no idea that I would be so in love with our families and our staff. Hillier is a place that feels like home. The love… the compassion… the hearts of service… these are all qualities I have observed and come to adore in each of my colleagues. We pour our hearts into our families as if they were our own. Coming to work every day has helped me to grow personally and professionally in ways I could never have foreseen. It is such a blessing to be valued and to contribute value alongside like-minded hearts.

The Future

Maybe I will follow in my parents' footsteps and find my place in funeral service, but no matter what I choose to be, I am the future.

For right now, I love spending my days at daycare with my friends. I play soccer and golf, I take piano lessons, but my favorite thing to do is be silly!

I do love wearing my "professional clothes" and helping with services at night. As long as it is before my bedtime! Please tell me hello when you see me around.

The Future

Maybe I will follow in my parents' footsteps and find my place in funeral service, but no matter what I choose to be, I am the future.

I am a pretty chill dude. I would love to sit and talk with you but I am still learning to talk. I could tell you about my mama, dada, or "Ee" (that is Mackenzie!). That is about it for now. As I learn and grow, I promise to chat with you more. Until then, thank you for giving me a wonderful community in which I can grow.
