Vicki Lynn Buckbee

Vicki Lynn Buckbee passed away on October 13, 2017, at the age of 65.
Vicki was born March 18, 1952 in Spur, Texas to Dean Alton and Dorothy Faye (Williams) Watson. She and her sister Dana lived in Spur until Vicki was five years old. Their dad Dean was a state trooper and was stationed to El Paso so they moved there until 1966 when he requested to go to Iraan, Texas. There, he was the first state trooper ever assigned to that town. Their mother Dorothy served as the deputy tax collector for Pecos County. After graduating from Iraan High School in 1970, Vicki went on to attend Abilene Business School.
On December 19, 1971, Vicki married the love of her life, Robert Buckbee. They were married in Iraan. Texas and during their almost 47-year marriage, they were blessed with two children: Nicole Dyan and Christopher Lee. After Vicki and Bob moved to Bryan/College Station, she worked for JC Penney as an interior designer. Then she moved on to work for Texas A&M in the Wildlife and Fisheries department for 23 years. Much as she enjoyed the work, she counted the day she retired in 2012 one of her best days of her life because she finally got to spend more time with her husband Robert playing golf with him and her girlfriends.
Vicki was a feisty, sassy woman who loved life! Her friends and family laugh when they remember saying “if she’s was quiet, she was not happy or something was wrong”. Ms. Vicki as she was often called loved to play golf and watch it on TV. She was a member of the Women’s Golf Association. One of her other favorite things to do was to go to the mall to people watch. She was a stubborn woman who loved to state her opinion on just about anything, mainly because she had strong views on everything. Much as she lovingly bitched, though, Vicki was never negative. Rather, she was known as a woman who could be counted on to help out and be there when anyone needed help. She made hats for the cancer center, loved spending time with her family, hanging out with her girlfriends, spoiling her grandchildren, and you would often notice her putting her two dogs Kay-Kay and Doc at the top of her list!
Vicki leaves behind her husband Robert (Bob), her daughter Nicole Dyan Braly, her son and daughter-in-law Christopher Lee and Shannon Susanne Buckbee, and her grandchildren Jordan Mendoza, Jamie Braly, Braiton Mendoza, Katherine Braly, Cierra Mendoza, Dustin Buckbee, Christian Neal, Madeline Buckbee, and Karrington Buckbee. She will be dearly missed.
There will be a time to gather and visit on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 5 to 6 PM in the chapel of Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. Ms. Vicki’s life celebration will begin at 6p.m with a reception to follow at Hillier Funeral Home in the reception room. In lieu of flowers, her family would request donations to be made in Vicki’s name to CHI St. Joseph Cancer Center.
