Sheryl Mary Hendrickson Pace
July 29, 1940 – November 10, 2017

Sheryl Hendrickson Pace died peacefully in her sleep early on November 10, 2017. She has a great family and many good friends who will miss her dearly.
Sheryl was born in Rupert, Idaho on July 29, 1940. She lived in Rupert until moving to Provo to attend BYU. She met Nick Pace at BYU, and in good Mormon fashion, they were married on August 1, 1959 at age 19 after their freshman year at BYU. Sheryl and Nick moved to B/CS in 1968.

She has three great children: Lori Maurice, married to Charles Maurice, Dennis Pat Pace, married to Joanie Fowler Pace, and Phillip Zane Pace, married to Linda Herd Pace. All three of her children graduated from Texas A&M. Sheryl has seven grandchildren who she enjoyed immensely: Mallory Maurice Parker, married to Colby Parker, Jordan Pace Cummings, married to Austin Cummings, Zane Pace, married to Lindsey Lopez, Brooke Pace Young, married to Matthew Young, Kurt Maurice, Chrysa Pace (soon to wed Caleb Bondurant), and Jenna Pace. She also loved her adopted grandchildren, Dallin and McKenna Jeffery. Several of her grandchildren also attended Texas A&M and Sheryl was always available to do their laundry and cook them a good meal. Sheryl has nine great-grandchildren who she cherished and loved to tend and guide: Kristine and Kameryn Young, Daphne and Theo Cummings, Colton and Mason Parker, Link Pace, and Savy and Tatum Jeffery.

Sheryl and Nick enjoyed traveling and Sheryl filled four passports over the years. Several of their trips were to photograph animals in the wild: Polar bears in Svalbard, Jaguars in Brazil, Lemurs in Madagascar, Tigers in India, Whales in Baja California, Turtles, Frigate Birds & Blue-Footed Boobies in the Galapagos, and many animals during three trips to Africa. She and Nick lived in Cambridge, England for a year during a sabbatical, and in Osaka, Japan for six months as part of a visiting professorship.

Sheryl was a great cook and loved to entertain her good friends. Sheryl’s favorite hobby was duplicate bridge where she achieved the rank of Gold Life Master, with over 3,000 master points, and, in the process, many good friends. She loved all forms of Texas A&M sports, especially the Aggie ladies.

Sheryl loved to get together with family and friends on trips, especially in Park City, Utah. She loved her many trips with the Sagebrush Sisters, her high school classmates.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Ethlyn Hendrickson of Rupert, Idaho. She is survived by her sister Nancy Dozier and her niece and nephew Annette and Richard Dozier. On the Pace side, she is survived by dozens of relatives that she loved dearly including Syd and Howard Basset, Jill and Rob Droubay, Darhl Bova and Gary Mickens, Liz and Russell Webb, and Deb and Joe Bryant.

There will be a memorial service celebrating her life on Thursday November 16TH at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception at Hillier Funeral Home, 4080 State Highway 6, College Station, TX 77845 (979-985-2060). In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Hospice of Brazos Valley (hospicebrazosvalley.org) or Angel Reach (angelreach.org).
