Rose Mary Herrera, 64, passed away July 2, 2017.
Rose Mary was born July 8, 1952 to Cruz and Margaret (Lopez) Cordero. The oldest of 5, she took her job as big sister very seriously. She married the love of her life, Edward Herrera, when she was only 18 years old when he was home on leave from Korea. Rose Mary graduated from Texas Woman’s University in Denton with a Bachelors degree and became a teacher.
Rose Mary had big heart. She was known to take in stray animals to be sure they were cared for. She has two cats, Samantha Ann and Mary Catherine, and one dog, Samuel. She was a dedicated teacher who had a real passion for her work. Her free time was spent finding ways to help better her students’ future. Rose Mary’s main focus was her family. She hosted all holidays at her house to ensure that the family was all together during such special times. She was an amazing baker, known for her delicious German chocolate cake and for numerous wedding cakes made for her beloved family. Rose Mary was a generous woman who loved to read, do crafts, and share her talents with others. She will be greatly missed.
A time for family to receive friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a memorial service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M on Saturday July 8, 2017 at Hillier Funeral Home with Reverend Julian Silva officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
