Rodney Wayne Jackson, 59, of Bryan passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 , at CHI St Joseph Hospital in Bryan, TX.
Rodney was born December 1, 1957 in Houston, TX, to Thomas and Ramona Jackson. He graduated from Conroe High School in 1976 and moved to Bryan in 1981. He worked at Montgomery Ward in Bryan for a number of years, and then retired in 2014, after 25 years as an Engineering Technician with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute where he conducted soil erosion control research.
Rodney married Annie Anderson on March 12, 1988, and became an instant dad to her son Curtis. Together, the family enjoyed camping trips to Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas and the Texas Hill Country where rock hunting was a highly anticipated adventure. Rodney's other interests included working on his old pickup trucks, hunting for treasures and unusual finds at flea markets and estate sales, music, playing his guitar, tinkering and tending to his yard.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ramona Jackson and mother-in-law, Pauline Niles. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 29 years, Annie Jackson and son Curtis Jackson; "Mom" Carolyn Jackson; father-in-law George Niles; brother Ron Jackson and wife Julie; sister Rhonda Dudley and husband Tim; sister Kim McFalls and husband Jett; sister-in-law Brenda Niles; sister-in-law Terry Davis; brother-in-law Lee Niles and wife Vernell; uncle James Jackson; aunt Johnnie McCarley and husband Gary; aunt Patricia Crowder and husband Tommy; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate Rodney's life will be held October 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan with a reception to follow.
