Norman Gerard Salvato passed into the arms of the angels on January 6, 2018. He was born in Bryan, TX. to Frank and Josephine (Ricca) Salvato on December 30, 1949. Norman graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan and then attended Allen Academy, also in Bryan.
During his adolescent years, Norman worked for the Schulman theatres in Bryan. Moviegoers of that era could always expect to see Norman’s bright smile at the Palace, Queen and Skyway Drive-In theatres.
In the mid 70’s, Norman moved to Houston where he began a long time career with Al’s Formal Wear. His exceptional ability to interact positively with people led him to several other ventures over the years, including owning his own restaurant.
Norman, true to his Italian heritage, loved Italian food. So much so that Norman’s birthday celebrations, which were legendary, were always celebrated at an Italian restaurant in Houston. In fact, he was so well known in restaurant circles, that one restaurant even named a dish after him!
Norman is survived by one sister, Jennie Salvato, of Des Moines, Iowa, many friends, and numerous cousins. His pleasant smile, inspiring optimism and gentle manner will never be forgotten. He was a blessing to us all, and surely has earned his wings.
