Marvin W. Taylor

Marvin Wayne Taylor went to his heavenly home with the Lord on January 27, 2018, at the age of 73.
Marvin was born November 18, 1944, in South Carolina to Marvin Clifton and Francis (Minor) Taylor. He was one of eight children. Marvin grew up in Columbus, Mississippi. At the age of 16, he left home and joined the Army. Marvin was a member of the US Army Special Forces and served in Vietnam. He was very proud to serve his country and considered himself a soldier thru and thru. If ever asked his favorite color, his answer always remained the same—Camouflage.
Marvin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 years and soul mate of over 30 years, JoAnn Taylor. Marvin loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. His grandchildren knew him as the best storyteller and biggest chatterbox. Marvin was a talker! It was often said that he never met a stranger, as he knew everyone. He always took the time to speak with everyone he came across. Marvin was a member of Kingdom Ranch Church in Bryan, Texas. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Association and the NRA.
Marvin was lucky to have a wonderful career that he truly loved and enjoyed. He was an automobile mechanic for over 55 years. He owned several auto repair places throughout the years. Although he was known to be disorganized, Marvin was very meticulous when he worked. He loved to tinker with any vehicle he could get his hands on. His tractor, however, was his never-ending project. In his spare time, he was a private pilot and enjoyed going fishing. He was known to have ninja-like culinary skills when making food. He collected knives and leather workings.
Marvin is survived by his wife JoAnn, two sons, Danny Knighton and wife Pam, Daryl Knighton and wife Tracy, three daughters, Amy Taylor, Kim Taylor, Lya Christian and husband Gary, and his daughter-in-law, Tammy Knighton. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jeremy Knighton, Joshua Knighton, Mitchell Knighton, Megan Knighton, DJ Knighton, Blayke Knighton, Amber Hudson, Hannah Knighton, Morgan Story, Brittany Amador, Alexander Amador, Ashley Amador, Joseph Amador, Kristen Amador, Taylor Piatt, Amber Piatt, Nathan Piatt, and nine great-grandchildren.
To honor Marvin’s life, his family has planned a visitation on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 5-7 pm at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas.
