Marsha Kaye Restmeyer

Tough and tender, our loving mother, grandmother and friend Marsha Restmeyer died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at age 58.
Marsha was born on January 20, 1959, in Bryan, to her parents Edwin Neal Cajka and Freida Emma Schroder Cajka, an employee of Lilly Dairy and a School Cafeteria Manager, respectively. She was also raised here in town along with her brother, Robert Eugene Walker (now deceased) and brought up with a strong Lutheran background. As a young woman, Marsha played clarinet in the Bryan High School Band and worked at the Lilly Ice Cream plant before graduating in 1976. She also completed her LVN in Bryan ISD’s Nursing Program.
But even after leaving high school, Marsha couldn’t forget Henry “David” Restmeyer, whom she had met as a student. Later that same year, a bundle of joy convinced them to marry; their union lasted forty years and included the birth of their two daughters, Stephanie Renee Restmeyer McFadden (husband Rodney, of Franklin) and Sharisa Faith Restmeyer Sebesta (husband Ryan, of Groesbeck). Both daughters remember their mother’s wit, along with her strong will. Indeed, in Marsha’s work as a Nurse—during which she spent 17 years with University Pediatric Associates—her attitude was the same as it was with her own children, and she was sweet and caring, but in a no-nonsense way. She later worked as Secretary for David’s HVAC Company, then with Beutel Health Center at Texas A&M University for a further ten years.
In her time away from work, Marsha loved catfishing, gardening (she had a soft spot for roses) and feeding and watching her beloved hummingbirds. Remarkably, Marsha had more hummingbirds come to her feeders in one season than most people see in a lifetime. She also managed to travel somewhat extensively—to Hawaii, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada. But her most cherished days were spent with her six grandchildren and her three dogs: Tuff, Trixie and Annie.
Now, Marsha leaves behind a loving network of family and friends, including her longtime sweetheart David, her daughters and sons-in-law, and additionally, her grandchildren: Kohen, Madelyn, Jentri, Emmalyn, Lilyan and Jolee. Her nephews also mark her passing, including Chris Walker, Brent Walker and Robert Oehler. She was predeceased by one niece, Gabrielle Lege Wilkerson, as well as her brother, Robert.
The Life Celebration Gathering for Marsha Restmeyer will be held from 5:30-7:30pm on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.
