M. Loraine Lindberg-Edgar

Born: August 5, 1922 in Isanti, Minnesota Died: November 4, 2017 in Bryan, Texas

The fourth of six children born to Tilda and Carl Anderson, Loraine “Lori” moved with her family from Minnesota, stopping in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1940 to marry LeRoy Joseph George Lindberg in February before continuing on to begin their life in Southern California.

She and Roy had three children: LeRoy Gary Lindberg (wife - Bonnie Joy Warner) was born while Roy was overseas serving in The Army Air Corps during World War II. Cheryl Loraine Lindberg Fleming (husband - Dr. Jon H. Fleming) and Richard Allen Lindberg (wife - Cheryl Marie Didier) were born when Roy returned from service. While Roy served overseas, Lori helped the war effort by running a telephone switchboard, riveting airplanes, sewing parachutes, pumping gas and working in a canning factory.

Having mastered technical secretarial skills, Lori worked in public education as a high school clerk and later as a credit clerk at Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California.

Upon retiring from public education, they moved to Sun City West, Arizona. There they enjoyed many sporting and social activities including golfing, bowling, Bocci, board and card games, dancing and entertaining friends in their home: Family and friends were at the core of Lori’s life.

Singing was one of her greatest pleasures. Family singing around the piano or organ was a regular joy. She was in school and church choirs, and in Sun City West she sang with “The Westernaires Community Chorale”.

Loraine was always an active member of the Lutheran Church she loved. She volunteered in the church office, was a member of the Women’s Circles, sang in the choir as well as worked in the Lutheran Relief Thrift Store. Lori and Roy appreciated serving Thanksgiving dinner to folks through a mission outreach program.

Of all of her accomplishments and enthusiasms, she most often stated her greatest role was that of mother to her children; grandmother to her five grandchildren, and great grandmother and great-great grandmother to those many loved ones: She loved her family profoundly.

After Roy’s death in 1999, Lori met and married Ralph Cole Edgar in 2003. Besides enjoying each other, they shared many adventures together from cruises, to fishing with Rick’s family, to camping with Gary’s family, to building a deer feeder and hanging out with Jon and Cheryl on their Texas ranch until his death in 2014.

Always having easily made friends, Lori gathered new friends around her during her last years. They have been a wonderful source of fun, mutual respect and shared understanding. She treasured each of them.

A firm follower and believer in Jesus Christ, Loraine has now gone to be with those who have proceeded her, including her sister Ruth and brothers Carl, Lloyd and Lawrence and their spouses, and Roy’s brother Leslie and sister Margaret and their spouses, and her great granddaughter Courtnee. She is survived by her beloved sister Donna and her husband Don, her sister-in-law Harriet and Roy’s sisters Gerre and Marylou, and his brothers Ted and Arthur and their spouses, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Loraine will be interred next to Roy in Eternal Valley Cemetery and Memorial Park in Newhall, California. There a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in her honor to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children https://scottishritehospital.org or the American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org .
