Louise Moore

Louise Turner Moore was born on December 27, 1928 in Dallas, Texas, the only child of Dewey Turner and Idell Satterwhite Turner. Her love story began on January 10, 1947 when a friend set her up on a blind date with James T. Moore. They married on June 4, 1949 and began 68 years of love and happiness together. She passed into the arms of God on January 4, 2018, in Austin. Louise built her life around loving devotion to Jim and unconditional love and care for their four children Frances, Debbie, Leslie and Jimmy, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

As the wife of an army officer, Louise enjoyed living in many places around the country and around the world. One of her favorite places being Fort Lee, Virginia where during Jim’s 30 years of service they were stationed there three times. As the wife and mother of a proud Texas Aggie, she traveled around the country following the Texas A&M football team. When their children were grown, Louise became an entrepreneur using her love for cooking to start a successful sandwich shop and catering business. Giving back was important to Louise and Jim as they raised and donated thousands of dollars to many Texas A&M projects. Louise’s faith in the Lord was unwavering. She was a long time member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Col. James T. Moore, daughter Frances Hickey and husband German, daughter Debbie Steele and husband Billy, daughter Leslie Fox and husband Steve, son Jim Moore, Jr. and wife Carol. Her legacy also includes 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

The world is a better place because she was in it. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Please join the family in Celebrating Louise’s Life at 10 AM on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. Interment will follow at the Aggie Field of Honor with a Celebration Reception at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center on University Drive in College Station.
