Lena Krueger

Lena Krueger of College Station passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the age of 82.
Lena was born December 8, 1935 in White Hall, Texas to August and Lena (Abke) Bushman. As a child growing up in Carlos, Texas, she and her brothers and sisters were brought up knowing the Lord at the Carlos Missionary Baptist Church. The sixth of seven children, Lena grew up playing outside a lot with her little sister Reba. When Lena was a teenager, her mother remarried to Alvie Churchwell, and he was her stepfather for her remaining formative years. Lena went to Navasota schools with her brothers and sisters.
Lena was a firecracker. She was full of life and energy and was always fun to be around. She was always fashionable and loved to get her hair done. She met her match in her husband Weldon Krueger. The two met when his sister-in-law Jeanie Viola introduced them at Wehrman’s Café in Bryan. He had been a sergeant in the Army, serving in World War II. They were married December 30, 1961 and were blessed with 22 years together before he passed away June 1, 1984. They had three children, Patsy, Robert, and Dora Jean (deceased). She loved being around her family. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, and helped raise the family. Even though Lena was very selfless and loving, if anyone ever wanted the absolute truth, they could always count on Lena to be brutally honest.
Lena worked for food services with Texas A&M in the Commons dining facility. She worked there for 20 years until she retired in 1997. Even after her retirement she continued to love watching Aggie football and March Madness. She enjoyed the craziness of WWF wrestling, especially “The Rock” and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. She also loved watching “I Love Lucy,” “The Lawrence Welk Show,” and her soap operas. They fit her quick-witted, sassy personality. As an adult, Lena was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lyons, Texas.
Lena leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law Patsy Montalbano Davis and her husband Jim Davis, her son Robert Krueger, granddaughters Kristie Montalbano and fiancé Justin Pack, Stephanie Cash and her husband Chris, Candice Montalbano, and Ashley Cox and her husband Matt, her great grandchildren Madelynn Montalbano, Chloe Cash, Sophie Cash, Caitlyn Pack, McKenna Harris, and Caleb Cox, her brother Eugene Bushman, her sister Reba Brown, her sister-in-law Agnes Krueger, and her special friends Tom and Shelly Archer and Chuck and Mary Cash.
Preceded in death by, her husband, Weldon Krueger, brothers, Melvin and William Bushman, sisters, Elvina Butts and Mayola Perry and niece Sandra Kay Krell.
