June Swoyer

Donna June (Harris) Swoyer passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the age of 64.

June was born at Ft. Hood Army Base in Killeen, TX on September 8, 1952 to Jack and Mary Harris. She grew up in College Station, with her two older sisters and one younger brother, as a member of First Baptist Church of College Station. She was a member of the A&M Consolidated class of 1970.

She had a love for children like no other. She had 9 grandchildren (so far), 8 boys and 1 girl, that adored their GiGi. They were the light of her life. Her life's work included raising her own children but she also played a big part in the lives of so many others. She was a dedicated teacher at First Baptist Church, Covenant/A&M Presbyterian Day School, Rock Prairie Elementary, the Becky Gates School for Children and A&M United Methodist Preschool.

She met her first husband and father of her four children, Doug Venuti, in high school. They were married May 13, 1972 at All Faiths Chapel on the Texas A&M Campus. They were married for 22 years.

She met her current husband, Don Swoyer, thru each of their daughters in 2009. They were married on Jan 23, 2010 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother, Jim Harris.

She is survived by her husband of 7 years Don Swoyer; her children and their spouses, Joy and Jason Williams of College Station, Jill and Ryan Chisolm of College Station, Jon and Katie Venuti of Tampa, Florida, JP and Mary Joy Venuti of Bryan; her 9 beloved grandchildren, Jaxon, Alan, Jenson, Ryan, Jace, Nate, Preston, Luke and Lauren.

She is also survived by her stepchildren and their spouses, Cara and Mike Horcica and their children Chase and Regan, and Neil and Debbie Swoyer and their children Sophia, Lucas, Isaac, and Ava.
Also surviving her are her two sisters and best friends and brothers in law, Jan And Tom McGrath and Jean and CW Reeves; along with so many loved nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 11th at Hillier Funeral Home in College Station from 6:00-8:00pm. A full mass and celebration of life will be held at 10:00am, Friday, May 12th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station, with the burial to follow at College Station Cemetery.
