James "Jim" B. Davis

James “Jim” B. Davis, 56, passed away peacefully at his home on February 13, 2018.

Jim was born September 4, 1961 in Lubbock, Texas to Haskell B. Davis and Lana Godwin Davis. Growing up with his six brothers and sisters, Jim enjoyed playing and getting into mischief with his cousins. He was close to his family, and his best vacations were when he got to spend time at his Mimmie and Gramps’ lake house. He loved playing sports, especially football, even to the point of playing with a broken arm. He got into plenty of trouble, and enjoyed driving his mom and pop up the wall sneaking out the window at night. His focus was his hair – he was proud of it. He thought he was “hot stuff” and chased the girls throughout his time at Smyer High School. He graduated in 1980.

Jim started his career working in the oilfield. He also worked for Brazos County before ending his career working for Texas A&M University. He was a hard working man, providing well for his family. He also had a great sense of humor and knew how to cut loose. He spent time traveling to the coast and taking his camper out to Lake Somerville to go fishing. He loved “cutting up” with his buddy James Vernon and riding motorcycles. He always came home to Lubbock to spend time with the family over the holidays.

Jim was a God fearing, generous man who loved his family. He loved being a father and a Poppy, and always reminded his grandkids that “Jesus and Poppy love you the most.” He was married previously to Theresa for 20 years. Later in life, he met his beloved wife Patsy. Between them they had four children, who he selflessly adored. He was their hero.

Jim leaves behind his wife Patsy Montalbano Davis, his daughters, Ashley and Matt Cox, Kristie Montalbano and Justin Pack, Stephanie and Chris Cash, and Candice Montalbano, his mother Lana Caudle, his father Haskell “B” Davis, and his grandchildren McKenna Harris, Kaleb Cox, Madelynn Montalbano, Chloe Cash, Sophie Cash, and Caitlyn Pack, and his siblings Darla Kirton, Christy Caswell Childress, Brad Davis, Keith Davis, Lonnie Davis, and Trent Davis. He was preceded in death by his dads Charles “Pop” Caswell and John Donald Caudle. His honorary pallbearers will be James Vernon, Roger Jeffcoat, Bodie Jeffcoat, Troy Johnson, Matt Cox, Tad Sinclair, Brad Davis, Keith Davis, Lonnie Davis, and Trent Davis. The family would like to give a special thanks to Jordan Acuna of Hospice Brazos Valley.

To honor Jim’s life, his family has planned a life celebration at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on Jim’s behalf to Hospice Brazos Valley.
