Faye Purlee Parris

Faye Purlee Parris, 79, passed away September 1, 2017.
Faye Parris was born October 31, 1937 in Alexis, Illinois to Frank Lowell and Jessie Mildred (Lawless) Purlee. She graduated from Alexis High School in 1955 and went on to Western Illinois University, where she studied to become a teacher. Faye taught elementary school in Illinois and Texas for most of her life, doing her best to instill her love of reading into young minds. She also worked for almost 15 years at the Evans Library at Texas A&M.
Faye married Daniel M. Parris on August 14, 1960; the couple was blessed with three children: Susan Elizabeth, Daniel Todd and Carrie Jo. An amazing wife and mother, Faye was the center of the family. She loved her family, and they were first in her life.
Faye was a funny, loving woman with a variety of hobbies. She enjoyed life on the farm with Dan and her border collie, Purl. She took great pleasure keeping track of all the baby calves. In her younger days, she was an exceptional athlete and was an Illinois State Bowling Champion. She loved playing games and puzzles- anything to keep her mind sharp. Whether it was Bunco with her teacher friends, trivia or crossword puzzles, Faye always exercised her incredible intellect. She was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction. Like her mother, Faye loved working puzzles especially crossword puzzles. During her life, she was a member of the Abingdon Methodist Church, and A&M Methodist Church.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Jessie Purlee, and her brothers, Robert and Jerry Purlee. She leaves behind her loving husband Daniel, her daughter Susan and husband Wayne Parks, her son Daniel Todd Parris, her daughter Carrie Jo Parris, and her granddaughter Paige Elizabeth Parks. Faye was blessed with many beloved nieces and nephews. She was raised in a large extended family of loving cousins. She will be dearly missed by all.
Her family would like to invite you to stop by and celebrate her life with them at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station on Saturday, September 9, 2017 anytime between 11 AM – 2 PM
