Don Hackathorn of Bryan, TX passed away February 16, 2018 at CHI St. Joseph Health Skilled Nursing and Rehab Bryan.

He was born February 18, 1926 in Bergholz, Ohio, a son of the late Clarence "Shorty" and Sylvia Jolley Hackathorn

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Camelia Rose Hackathorn and siblings, Michael (Ruth) Hackathorn, Sylvia (Charles) Gervason, Ben (Edna) Hackathorn, Betty (Harold) Kemmer, Catherine (Michael) Becher, James (Joan) Hackathorn, David "Butch" (Sue) Hackathorn, Leslie (Margaret) Hackathorn, Jean Hackathorn, and Florence Hackathorn.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Rose (Pavlicek) Hackathorn, his daughters, Linda Tisdale of Rusk, TX and Marsha Matcek of Bryan TX, his son, John Hackathorn of Lake Jackson, TX, his grandchildren, Stephanie Grieves, Natalie (Eric) Matcek, Auston Matcek, Brandy (Josh) Moore, Laura Farnum, and his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Grieves, Bryanna Grieves, Caden Perdue, Nathan Anderson, and Jadyn Smith, and his siblings, Joan (Tom) Isherwood of Amsterdam, OH, and Dennie (Jennie Lee) Hackathorn of Amsterdam

Don was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII on a Liberty ship and a Navy destroyer. After serving as part of the greatest generation he then began working for Dow Chemical in many capacities, including being a process computer engineer and working on some of the earliest computers. He subsequently retired from Dow Chemical in Freeport, TX in 1982. He loved fishing, wood working, music, and reading. However, Don was much more highly regarded due to his involvement in the lives of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as his children.

Don requested that no service be held. Friends will be received from 6PM-8PM on Wednesday, February 21, at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan, 2301 East 29th Street, Bryan, TX 77802.
