Bryan P. Elfers

The world lost a fun loving, playful man when Bryan Patton Elfers passed away on February 9, 2018.
Bryan was born August 30, 1961 in Hartford, Connecticut to James Patton and Shirley Jean Elfers. Growing up with his younger brother Craig in Slidell, Louisiana, Bryan was a smiling, happy kid. He enjoyed riding his tricycle and eating ice cream with the family dog Heidi. He was close to his family and loved spending time with them, especially if it involved going to Grandma Bertch’s house. He knew her famous homemade cinnamon rolls would be on the menu. Bryan discovered his love for cars as a teenager. He was in the vocational technical program for auto mechanics. He was able to start getting paid doing what he loved when he got a job working for Dirkson’s Auto Shop. During this time he also met his life long friend John Martinez. Bryan’s passion for cars continued throughout his life. He loved working on cars, and enjoyed watching demolition derbies, dirt track races, and Nascar. Bryan began his career as an electrician when he was 18, when he worked as an apprentice on the Staten Island Ferries. Over his electrical career, he worked off shore on oilrigs, in wineries, and in various plants maintaining and installing equipment.
Bryan learned over the years that it wasn’t the things or the money he had, but rather the experiences and people he had in his life that made him happy. Two of the people he adored the most were his sons, Russell and Shane Bolin-Elfers. Even when they were apart, they were always in his heart. Bryan met his amazing wife Sarah through on online profile. After a few phone calls and emails, they agreed to meet and went on their first date at Yesterday’s. Bryan and Sarah were married on October 4, 2014 at the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Bryan, surrounded by their wonderful family and friends. Bryan was excited to get a “bonus” child in Zoe, even though raising a girl was a new experience for him. Bryan and his family loved to travel. He took many trips over the past few years, including to New York, New Mexico, Louisiana, and throughout Texas. He loved New Orleans, especially around Mardi Gras time. He was really excited to get to introduce Mardi Gras to Sarah and Zoe. His granddaughter got to spend her first Mardi Gras with them as well, which made it even more special. Spending time with his family meant everything to him.
Although Bryan certainly stood out as being comical and rebellious with his painted fingernails and Mohawk, most people recognized him as someone who could make you laugh and help with anything. He was fun and playful, but was serious when it mattered. He was a hard worker and took pride in a job well done. Bryan was a registered Girl Scout. He became involved when thousands of cookies were dropped off at his house. Counting, sorting, manning cookie booths, and delivering cookies became a yearly part of his life. He was invited as a guest to a local Women of Distinction banquet three years ago. Attending the event moved him and he decided then to be a table sponsor from that point forward. Recently, Bryan decided he wanted to become a patron of the arts and became a season ticket holder for the Theatre Company.
Bryan leaves behind his mother Shirley Jean Elfers, his wife Sarah Marie Elfers, his son and daughter-in-law Russell and Shannon Bolin-Elfers, his son Shane Bolin-Elfers, his daughter Zoe King, his grandchildren Olivia and Wyatt Bolin-Elfers, his brother Craig Elfers, and various aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be missed.
Bryan’s Life Celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. February 22, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church; 4201 Hwy 6, College Station, Texas, with Pastor Tommy Myrick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Bryan’s family asks for donations to be made in his name to the Girl Scouts of Central Texas https://gsctx.ejoinme.org/ or The Theatre Company of BCS at https://www.theatrecompany.com/support/
