Ben Edward Boettcher
March 12, 1950 – February 6, 2018

Ben Edward Boettcher met his Lord and Savior on February 6, 2018 at the age of 67. He was a devout Christian, husband, father, grandfather, loving relative, and a faithful and loyal friend to many people.
He married the love of his life, Cindy King, on March 22, 1975 at First Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Rachel and husband, Jeff Hughes, and Amy and husband, Corey Ging. He was BenBen to three precious granddaughters, Kylie, Ella, and Addy. He was an amazing brother to Beverly and a father-figure to her children, Sara and Jason. Ben was the cornerstone in their family and the wind beneath their wings that allowed all of them to soar and pursue their dreams unconditionally.

Ben was the beloved son of Ed and Lucile Boettcher, who believed and supported his endeavors. He was a 1968 graduate of Brenham High School. He obtained a Bachelor of Environmental Design Degree in 1972 and a Master of Architecture Degree in 1974, both from his beloved Texas A&M University. He was a licensed Architect and Interior Designer. He and Cindy were members of the Texas A&M Century Club for 46 years.

He was professionally affiliated with the AIA Brazos Chapter of Architects, the Texas Society of Architects, and the American Institute of Architects. He began working with Travis Broesche Architects in 1974, and in 1987, began his own practice in Brenham, Texas. His architectural focus was always on building design to encourage and inspire people. He loved restoration projects and designing homes, medical facilities, and banks, but most importantly, churches. Through his long life in Brenham, he worked with the Brenham Maifest Association serving in many capacities. He also devoted much time to the Washington County Historical Society and was passionate about keeping the history of buildings in Brenham alive. He was a fearless leader in many projects and never let a problem stop him from completion. He was instrumental in helping Cindy establish First Baptist Church School in Brenham in 1977.

In 2001, Ben and Cindy moved to College Station and loved making their home in Aggieland. He was most proud of helping to bring God’s vision of a church to College Station and was the cornerstone that launched Brazos Fellowship Church in 2005. He always spoke with a twinkle in his eye about the love of the church staff, people, and the facility which he carefully designed to honor God and bring people to Christ. In addition to his love for the church, Ben enjoyed photography, and we now know that he is taking pictures of the most magnificent scenery in Heaven and living in a Mansion designed by God. He and Cindy were blessed to travel all over the world, and he enjoyed the architecture along the journeys.
In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his sister and brother in-law, Beverly and Jerry Love, niece and husband, Sara and Stewart Hardy, nephew and wife, Jason and Aren Williams, sister-in-law and husband, Gloria and Curtis Fennell, sister-in-law, Nancy Jinks, and mother-in -law, Norma Smith, his aunt, Joyce Boettcher Wagner, and numerous loving great-nieces and -nephews. He also considered his family to include his supportive architectural staff, Janice Fairlie, Darren Heine, Matias Garza, Yvonne Brast, Jhonatan Aguirre, Darlene Lomax, and Vincent Michel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lucile Boettcher.

A Celebration of Ben’s life will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Brazos Fellowship Church in College Station, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jhonatan Aguirre, Gerald Bratz, Ben Flencher, Matias Garza, Darren Heine, Mark Hernandez, Ryan Jahns, Charles Otto, Ricky Seabolt, and Rodney Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Imagine More Children’s Wing Fund at Brazos Fellowship Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hillier Funeral Home in College Station. There will be a private family burial.
