E.W. Sayers, 90, of College Station passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Hillier...
E.W. Sayers, 90, of College Station passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Hillier Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be at College Station Cemetery. Services will be officiated by E.W.'s grandson-in-law, Pastor Brian Linder of Brazos Fellowship Church in College Station.
E.W. retired from Montgomery Ward of Bryan after more than 30 years where he served as the appliance department manager. He was an active participant in Brazos County government since 1968. He was a constable for Brazos County serving the people of Precinct 7 for 12 years.
He was active with security for Texas A&M University Athletic Department and was a former reserve officer for the Bryan Police Department for more than four years. E.W. served as the past vice president of the Brazos Valley Peace Officers Association, served on the Board of Directors of the College Station Morning Lions Club, and served on the Board of Trustees and was past Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O. Elks No. 2096. E.W. was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kamron Satterwhite, in 2007.
E.W. was a loving, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Edith Sayers of College Station; children, Brenner Sayers and wife, Lenora, of Bridge City, Sandra Satterwhite and husband, Larry, of Houston, Cindy Herrick and husband, David, of College Station and Mike Sayers and wife, Kathy, of Richards; grandchildren, Edie Schlegel, Kimberly Page, David Herrick, Stephanie Linder, Kristy Williams, Wenona Harris, Melissa Underwood, Renee Droddy, Amanda Herrick, Michael Sayers, Zach Hammer, Luke Hammer and Keaton Sayers; 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Ghormley; and numerous extended family members and friends.
The family would like to thank Alex, Theresa, and Krystal for the special loving care of Mr. Sayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Elks Children's Services, 1963 F.M. 1586, Gonzales, TX 78629.
